When the dream of creating a Little Italy district around Henry’s Hi-Life in San Jose was born more than a decade ago, the western end of downtown was hardly a hotbed of activity. So the cultural district grew slowly, with restaurants and eateries like Paesano’s, Bel Bacio and Enoteca La Storia adding to the atmosphere over the years.
But now, with Google planning a massive development near Diridon Station, and a new landmark structure already in the works for Arena Green as well as ideas floating around for a re-imagined Guadalupe River Park, Little Italy San Jose’s leaders are worried they might get squeezed off the map.
