Louis DaMassa, Oroville High School class of 1921, is being inducted in memoriam into the Oroville Union Hall of Fame. This 2019 inductee passed away in 1975 but is remembered with respect and admiration by his family and friends as an honorable man who always looked for ways to serve his community. During World War II, DaMassa served as an Air Raid Warden, keeping watch for unknown aircraft activity in the Oroville Area.
He served as president of the Oroville Chamber of Commerce and was one of the visionaries for the early construction of Oroville’s National Guard Armory and the Oroville Dam project. DaMassa served on the board of directors for the Oroville Olives semi-pro baseball team, the YMCA and the Oroville Cemetery District.
