Are we living a new Italian cultural Spring in San Francisco? A friend of mine asked me that question a few days ago. She noticed that there are many signs of renewed cultural vitality among Italians in the Bay. In Berkeley a new Italian Society has been created, spearheaded by bright scientists in their late twenties and early thirties.
A Center for the Studies of Ancient Italy has just been launched at UC Berkeley. The Italian Cultural Institute has found a new center at the very heart of the city and is about to celebrate a grand opening with the paintings and the presence of a living legend like Lawrence Ferlinghetti.
