The Friends Of The North End (FONE), began their 12th annual Spring Bocce season on Sunday, April 22. The season will continue every Sunday until May 27, followed by an award ceremony banquet where trophies will be given to the winning team.
The Friends are carrying on a long time tradition of playing bocce at the North End Park, the same location some of their grandfathers and fathers played in the past. Friends Of The North End was established in 1972 by a few boyhood friends who grew up together in the North End. Today there are 79 members in the organization who meet at least once a month for dinner at the Sons of Italy, in Winchester, MA.
