A mix of Italian food, family friendly games, clothing and artisan vendors, and traditional fall fun brought families to Tuscan Market's Main Street location for Toscana Fest Saturday. The sun held strong Saturday for the Salem event, after it had been rained out just a week before. Families painted pumpkins, perused vendor tents and sampled Tuscan Brands products. In its fifth year, Toscana Fest started as a way for Tuscan Brands owner Joe Faro to share his Italian culture with the community.
"We wanted to do an Italian street festival," he said. Nestled along the Salem Rail Trail between Faro's two businesses Tuscan Market and Tuscan Kitchen, Toscana Fest featured local singer Michael Dutra, who crooned Frank Sinatra tunes into the afternoon as families sampled Tuscan Brands foods like gelato and sandwiches.
