A rare treat for fans of Gaetano Donizetti (and those who have never experienced his brilliant works before), this benefit concert showcases the Italian opera composer's rarely performed art songs. Highly popular in the 19th century and unfairly overlooked in the modern era, these songs are gorgeously crafted compositions that can stand up to any of Donizetti's famous "Bel Canto" compositions. Now Teatro Lirico of DC has chosen some of the best of these songs -- including the delightful "Amor Marinaro" ("Seaman's Love") and the fiery "La Zingara" ("The Gipsy Girl") -- in a concert that features the talents of Tim Augustin (tenor), Laura Stuart (soprano), Jose Sacin (baritone) and George Peachey (piano).
