THE CONCEPT
Restaurateur Benjamin Berg (B&B Steakhouse and B.B. Lemon) and his brother, chef Daniel Berg, are partners in this restaurant that recently debuted in the space that was once Carmelo’s restaurant. It serves contemporary takes on classic Italian-American dining staples.
THE SPACE
The hodgepodge of rooms that was once Carmelo’s make sense now in a new layout that opens up — and lightens up — the once dark environs. Clean white walls decorated with framed black-and-white photos of Italian culture and cuisine make for a festive, more sophisticated dining experience. Huge new bar and a boxwood-lined patio where there used to be a parking lot.
