Gelato can be a saving grace on a hot afternoon and one new storefront hopes to satiate those icy cravings when it opens in downtown Sarasota mid-June. Gelato-go, a small gelato chain based in South Florida, will open a new storefront off Main Street at 14 S. Orange Ave. The prices will be between $5-$7 depending on the size of gelato, and cones are the same price with no additional charge. Coffee and pastries could be offered as well.

The company was founded in 2013 by three Italian friends. Gelato maker Antonio Armino, who learned how to craft gelato from his father ,was joined by his friends Domenico D’Addio and Alessandro Alvino. Alvino is the company’s sales and marketing director and said that they pride themselves on their individual take on gelato. “We produce gelato in our own way,” Alvino said. “Most gelato stores buy their base from a vendor. We produce our own base naturally. We can craft the recipe as we want, and make our gelato with anything.”
