Corinth will soon be home to a Marco’s Pizza, one of the franchise owners said. Marco’s Pizza, which started in Ohio 40 years ago, will open in the former Papa John’s location in a strip mall on U.S. Highway 72 East just west of the South Harper Road intersection. Peter Morgan of Collierville, Tennessee said he and business partner Jeff Friedrich of Jackson, Tennessee expect Marco’s Pizza to open in Corinth around Oct. 11. They have ownership in a number of other Marco’s locations and have been in the pizza business about 40 years each, Morgan said.
The company was founded in 1978 by Italian immigrant Pasquale Giammarco and is based in Toledo, Ohio. The Marco’s location in Corinth will be carryout and delivery, but it may be expanded in the future to add a dining area, Morgan added. A manager for the Corinth Marco’s already has been hired and has been with the company a few years. Other employees still need to be hired, and that process is expected to start in late September.
