Luigi’s Ristorante Italiano of Nebraska City has been open for a little over a month at Nebraska City’s historic train depot at 725 S. 6th St. And customer reviews have been fantastic. Yelp reviewers have rated the eatery in the four and five star range. Nebraska Citians had been hoping for a tennant at the depot. The location was closed for a long time until Matt Lundak revamped the space and opened as The Depot Kitchen and Taproom.
Another opportunity came up for Lundak, however, and the building again went dormant. It didn’t stay that way for long. And, in a weird twist, you might want to thank a broken bridge for your perfect pasta. Bernardo Rossi, whose family owns Luigi’s, said a chance visit through town ended with him taking notice of the depot building.
