With the starting gun set to pop off on the annual five-week sprint to Christmas along with the orgy of consumerism that accompanies it, here's a pro tip, if you find yourself in the vicinity of the Waterfront with hunger pangs after a day of trampling strangers in pursuit of one of those ludicrous Swagway hoverboards (People! Did we learn nothing from the stupidity of Razor scooters?): Remove yourself from the throngs of chain restaurants and grab an Italian beef sandwich at the Old School Italian Sandwich Shop in Munhall.
A stone's throw away from the site of the steel mill-turned-shopping center that peddles extensively in cheap foreign-made junk, the Old School Italian Sandwich Shop is in a bottom-floor classroom of the 110-year old former Saint Michael's Catholic School, behind the church of the same name.
