If you are someone who believes eating good Italian food can be a religious experience, the churches of Nitro are ready to answer your prayers. How so? They’re teaming up to host a $10 all-you-can-eat “Italian Feast” dinner from 4-6 p.m. this Saturday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at 2008 20th St. in Nitro.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Nitro Mission Team, a community-wide organization that operates social assistance projects including a food pantry, a Christmas basket and toy campaign, children’s food backpacks and a utility assistance program. Nitro Mission Team director Bill Fortune said 10 of the city’s 18 churches are participating in Saturday’s dinner, which will feature specialties like sweet Italian sausages grilled with onions and peppers.
