A couple of years ago before heading to Milan Design Week, I took the opportunity to return to Rome for a few days. I had attended architecture school there in 1989. Each time I visit, I search for changes to the Eternal City. There is always something amazing to discover.
On this trip, I visited the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj to see three rare paintings by Caravaggio and to tour the ruins of Nero's fabled Domus Aurea ("Golden House"). On the way to see the emperor's home, I happened upon the new Fendi flagship store near the Spanish Steps. After striking up a conversation with a sales associate, I was offered a private tour.
