The day after Columbus Day was celebrated, the Christopher Columbus statue in downtown Binghamton was vandalized for the second time in five weeks. Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and District Attorney Steve Cornwell are requesting information on who spray painted the bust of Columbus sometime early yesterday morning.
The Sons of Italy Lodges of Binghamton and Endicott have raised funds for a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest. Garnar says police are investigating surveillance video of the Broome County Courthouse lawn.
