The lot adjacent to St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church in East Utica was once again filled Saturday for its annual Italian festival, with lines for food extending nearly to the sidewalks at times. Proceeds from the three-day festival will support St. Mary of Mount Carmel programs and roof repairs later this summer, said the Rev. Jim Cesta, the church’s pastor.

Cesta said more than 200 volunteers supported the festival. He said volunteers spent the last 10 days preparing food from scratch, like pizza fritte, tomato pie and mushroom stew. Beyond the eats, the festival — in its 121st year — also featured amusement games, rides and live music.
