Pasta lovers don’t need to fly to Italy to get their fix of pasta and garlic bread. Ohio’s Trumbull County Italian Food Tour maps out some of the best places for Italian food in one of the state’s major Italian communities. In the late 1800s, Italian immigrants started to settle in Mahoning Valley in Northern Ohio. Now, Trumbull County is honoring its past with an Italian Food Trail that offers everything from pizza, pasta and sandwiches to desserts and buttery garlic bread.
The trail includes more than 40 restaurants and grocers. Some of the stops along the way include the Sunrise Inn and Brother’s Pizza, both famous for their pizza, according to the Ohio Office of Tourism. Italian lovers can swing by Jimmy’s for a huge sub loaded with prosciutto, salami and capicolla. Head to Vernon’s for tiramisu and cannoli.
