When Rome Free Academy graduating seniors received their diplomas during ceremonies Saturday, they soon noticed there was a tiny error. The text on the diplomas said they were handed out in Roma, NY, not Rome, NY.
Rome (not Roma) City School Superintendent Peter Blake said the mistake was discovered after the ceremony when parents and students began reading over the diplomas. The vendor was contacted, and is printing new diplomas, he said. They will be mailed out to all of the school's 338 graduates, he said. Blake said he's not sure how the error occurred - and the vendor didn't say how it happened.
