It must be tough to open an modernist, artisanal pizza place near the Pier in wild and wacky Hermosa Beach, just a few doors down from the much loved old school pie and pasta joint called Paisanos.
It sure looked that way on a recent Saturday night, when there was a line out the door at Paisanos of locals hungry for a slice served on paper plate, and eaten sitting on a planter nearby — while there were plenty of tables available in Locale 90 — where the pies are carefully crafted, cooked and served in an understated Neapolitan setting.
