Ciao Francesco, parlaci di te.
“Dopo la laurea all’università di Torino sono arrivato negli Stati Uniti con una Fulbright Fellowship. Fui destinato in un college di arti liberali del Connecticut, posto molto gradevole. Poi mi sono trasferito a Baltimora dove ho preso il dottorato alla Johns Hopkins University. La mia prima cattedra è stata poi in Canada, a Dalhousie University, e dal 2010 sono a Georgetown, dove insegno letteratura italiana, però soprattutto quella medievale: gli studi sulla canzone italiana sono una piacevole ramificazione della mia specialità principale”.
So che hai anche pubblicato dei libri?
“Il mio studio principale è un’analisi dei luoghi musicali nella Commedia dantesca (Dante’s Journey to Polyphony, University of Toronto Press, Toronto, 2010). Più di recente ho pubblicato La citazione è sintomo d’amore (Carocci, 2016), uno studio della memoria letteraria nei cantautori. Poi ho curato diversi altri volumi, fra i quali un volume della fortunata serie Lectura Boccaccii (The Decameron Third Day in Perspective: University of Toronto Press, Toronto 2014, con Pier Massimo Forni). E poi diversi saggi su Dante, Petrarca, Boccaccio, Berto, Pasolini, Primo Levi”.
