Italian Fest to carry on despite heavy hearts

Bradford’s Festa Italiana will never be the same again. Though the festival is slated for Aug. 9 through 11, emotions are still heavy after the passing of Tom Brown, who was actively involved in the Italian-American Progressive Club and the Festa Italiana Committee. But Mary Ann Colestro, Festa Italiana Committee secretary, says that the show must go on.

Colestro said, “This year will be especially emotional for a lot of us as we lost our president and friend Tom Brown recently. We will carry on the traditions that meant so much to him and hopefully do it for many years to come.” The club decided to honor Brown with the Tom Brown Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to a student attending college whose parents or grandparents are members of the Italian Club, LaStella Lodge or LaStella Auxiliary.
