The Frontenac Education Foundation raised a record amount from the live and silent auctions of $17,600 during Festa Italiana on Saturday. Frontenac Education Foundation President and Festa Chair Ann Brown said the numbers from the auction were a record high in comparison to last year. The totals raised from the food and wine tasting tickets were not available yet as the banks were closed for Columbus Day on Monday, Brown said.
Brown said the volunteers at the wine tasting booth said a lot more people visited the wine tasting booth than before. Last year, Festa raised nearly $40,000 for senior scholarships, leaving this year’s festa only $22,400 away from reaching its goal. Brown said there were close to 2,000 people at this year’s event — including volunteers and cooks.
