Enel subsidiary buys Kansas renewables company

The news follows hot on the heels of the utility's acquisition of 650MW of renewables from General Electric. The companies already have a long-standing development relationship that dates back to 2006, with Enel constructing approximately 3.9 GW of capacity developed by Tradewind.

“With this current acquisition, Enel Green Power North America will further expand its presence in Kansas, where the company is the largest wind operator with more than 1.4 GW of operational wind energy,” the companies said. Enel has also signed a deal with Macquarie Group’s Green Investment Group, selling them the Tradewind subsidiary Savion. The sale is set to be completed by mid-2019 and includes a development platform with 6 GW of solar and storage projects in various stages of development.
