Bristol is a long way from the Mediterranean Sea, and such nations as Italy and Greece that are along its shores. But eight years ago, Mo Elfredo decided to help bridge the gap, as least when it comes to cuisine, by opening his Alfredo’s Mediterranean and Italian Family Restaurant at 812 Commonwealth Ave. in Bristol, Virginia.
There, diners can find some of the signature dishes enjoyed by people of the Mediterranean area, including Italian, Greek and Middle Eastern recipes. The most-popular menu items are pizza and other traditional Italian items such as pastas, calzones and strombolis, as well as the Philly cheese steak sub, says Elfredo, who moved to Bristol from New York to open the eatery.
