Flames ripped through an Italian restaurant in Queens Wednesday evening after starting on the building’s roof, according to the FDNY. Photos show flames engulfing the structure that houses Biu Bella on Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills around 5 p.m. Witnesses saw a huge ball of black smoke balloon over the neighborhood.
“All of a sudden, boom,” said Marty Klein, 68. “It looked like the whole f–cking building was on fire.” One person suffered minor injuries, but refused medical attention on the scene, an FDNY spokeswoman said. The manager, who declined to give her name, said the fire appears to have started on the roof of the one-story structure. “This is a suspicious fire because we don’t know how it started,” she said, without elaborating. The FDNY could not say how the fire started but are investigating.
