More than 100 people enjoyed the annual Figli d’Italia (Order of the Sons of Italy) October dinner and party, which celebrates Columbus Day, Italian Heritage Month and Halloween. The event held Oct. 26 at the Knights of Columbus is a highlight of the year for Figli d’Italia. “It’s a Christopher Columbus masquerade ball in honor of our Italian heritage,” said chapter Past President Angela Maraia.
Chapter President Janis Stanziani told the Advertiser the dinner and party is a carnivale that members always enjoy. The event also raises money for Figli d’Italia’s charitable donations and college scholarships. Last year about $1,200 was raised. Janette Fasano, a former selectman and this year’s Founder’s Day Woman of the Year, was among the attendees.
