During the years Phil DeChellis owned Napoli’s Italian Eatery, he was a fixture in the downtown restaurant, greeting customers and helping to prepare food.“He lived here,” said Thomas West, a member of the Ohio House and former Canton councilman, said of DeChellis’ dedication to his business.
West said DeChellis was just as committed to helping revive Canton’s downtown, spending his own money and working with organizations to bring other businesses to the city’s center. West and DeChellis became friends as they worked together and campaigned to fix up downtown.
